Cytomight Vs. Flippin' Hell

My two main projects head to head:

I was recently granted a moderate sum of money so I once again can afford to hire musicians and/or artists to assist me.

I'm just not sure which project to go full boat for.

Should I or Shouldn't I?

Because of the recent (unverified) announcement that Amazon will be delivering packages via drones... I thought about making this concept into a shmup, but thought the phrase "Mail Bomber" might be offensive.

So, I'm not sure.

Lazy

  Just plain lazy.

I have no excuse for not working on these lately, other than I outright don't want to at the moment.

My focus has shifted somewhat towards music, so I'm trying to stay mindful of anything creative I come up with that I might be able to use.

The Footbone's Connected to the... Leg Bone

The Leg intermuscular structure's connected to the Hip Bone, the Hip gastrointestinal googah's connected to the ... Stomach, the stomo-guts-o-matic's connected to the ... esophagus, the windpipe's connected superficially to the ... lungs, the lungs are connected to the ... heart, the middle cerebreal artery's connected to the ... frontal lobe.

Just Getting Frustrated

The workload is too much.  Bang my head on the wall trying to think clearly.

I need help, but there is none.

...And then I got lazy

I'm sooo close, this is the most work I've actually done (as in real tangible thingies)

But I'm getting lazy.  It's hard to stay on track.  I guess this is why people work in teams, at the very least you can all show up to work at the same time.

Anyways:  I have the level route planned and I'm finding that Organic Chemistry actually has an absurd number of visual puns.  Did you know Histamine actually looks like a snake, or that Melatonin looks like a guy with a violin?  Well, it takes some imagination.

Slap me out of my complacency, Lok.

Cytomight Pre-Planning Virtually Complete

Wow, I might actually have to do some work now.  I actually finished my paper bureau.  I managed to complete my benchmark for the pre-planning phase of Cytomight.  That means, da-da-da-da, I gotta start scripting.

  Game Design:
Three Phases; One, Pre-Planning.  "Oh, I got an idea for a game".  Paper paper paper.  Write down everything, draw everything, file everything.  If the game holds water long enough it can stand on its own.  Phase-Two, scripting.  Converting all that paper work into real work.  Solving physics problems, doing hit boxes, placing platforms... all that.  Phase-Three:  The hardest phase of all, asset placement.  Change all them crappy placeholder boxes into actual graphics and sound.

There might be a phase four... something something something about advertising or vendoring or making sure you aren't infringing on an existing copyright, but technically that has nothing to do with making a game, only selling one.

...

Anyways, when I say "virtually" complete... I have sample character models, NPC models, enemy models, boss models, sound effect plans, partial music plans, level routes, scoring systems, item systems.  I'm missing a few graphical tidbits, but that's not important until Phase Three anyways.  For example, not sure if I should use a DNA graphic or a polymer graphic or a blood cell graphic or a lymph node graphic or what for this and that and thisersthat.

However, enough of the work is done that even if I had to abort Cytomight and turn this into a different title - the groundwork held the water test.

Now I just need someone to whip me occasionally to make sure I don't forget I'm trying to work, Lok

Sick as a dog... in the head, doghead.

  Ugh.

Putting in the manhours on this project is so boring... I'm just jiggling a few files around, hoping for the best.  I really have no idea what I'm doing, and that's because

SLEEP DISORDER

But I swear I'm still working, Lok

PS:  A game on Steam came out, Ittle Dew...  Ya, they beat me to it.  But I'm too invested into this project to give up.  I WILL release, even if it ends up looking like it's ripping off everything, that's the price of being slow.

Busy - Also Animation is Hard

I'm getting really good at drawing my little guys.  Even posing them.  But I wish there was a program to automate posing of 2D images.

There probably even is one, but that's the kinda thing I'd never know about because no one tells me.  The number 1 answer is almost always "Get Flash", but they never answer why, what features, lol that price tag... you're insane, I'm not paying for that.

Anyways:  The plot is coming along, simplified in some places and extended in others.  However, no amount of plot will make a difference if I can't design a good dungeon... or draw tiles... or get a good UI.

Hey - I Wrote a Song

Finally, my creative fizzle is working.

Still, I have to find a way to transcribe music... it's currently written down on parchment in cuniformic chicken scratch and not in actual musical notation.

But it works, the theme of Dwarf is good to go.

Animal Crossing New Leaf is Here

This was the final competitor in my brain-sink.

There's things I want to do in my game that are similar to Animal Crossing, but not exactly.  However, I'm trying to be novel above all so if there's any overlap I'd have to start over.

The largest hurdle would have been either a new 2D Zelda game or a new Animal Crossing game as they have the most similarities to what I'm going for.

The new Animal Crossing is pretty good, but lucky for me it doesn't do what "I" am trying to do.

That means...

Oh yeah!

   I'm going back to work!

Finally, Lok

It's fair to say I haven't been working

Lots of games came out all at once that I really liked.  Not often do I get 500+ hours on a game anymore.

Also:  I suffered some minor corporate sabotage, my pile of game notes was partially destroyed by some cleaners.  And before I end up saying my dog ate my program, I did happen to also suffer some minor surgery and have to get some dental work done next week as well.

So, basically, I'm not getting anything done... period.

Ok, so where did I leave off?

I don't even remember what projects I was working on.

Ok...  BRAINSHOCK!

As far as I can remember, I had the following projects:

1. Flippin' Hell:  My big baby, everything is going into this project.

Plot:  Real Estate adventure in the underworld, NOT a Webkinz clone.
Effort:  Honestly, I still haven't drawn up repeatable avatars for all the species yet

2. Sticky Baby: Side Project A, for learning platforming in Box2D

Plot: A alien/demon/microbe/whatever baby can stick to surfaces, cannons are involved
Effort: Box2D "looks" cool, but honestly is pretty sucky for mixed physics work.

3. No Turning Back: Side Project B, for learning advanced collisions

Plot: The world is being destroyed behind you, there's no turning back.
Effort:  -ZIP- I tried to do combat collisions one day and then said "F this, I'm going to McDonalds"

4. IDK

If I could remember what else I was working on, then that would mean I would have put in enough effort to care.  I don't want to annoy my cousin and what looks like 2 fans who are following this, so if you remember a project I was working on or happen to have one of my submitted betas, it'd be nice if you reminded me, 'cuz ...

Frankly...

500+ Hours of Monster Hunter will melt anyone's mind.

I swear I'm still trying, that's means not doing; Lok

Yes, I'm still working

 New year, new format.

Weekly/bimonthly posterity updates are ok, but now I'm just going to update when things actually happen.

Working, Lok
